Huib Hoste’s Joris Lens House at Mechelen (Be) concluded on
ICONIC HOUSES is the international network connecting architecturally significant houses and artists’ homes and studios from the 20th century that are open to the public as house museum.


Modernist architect Huib Hoste designed this house for lawyer Joris Lens in Mechelen in 1934. The lawyer’s practice was located on the ground floor, while living room and dining room are positioned on the first floor to take advantage of the interesting view. The authentic fitted furnishings are intact; the freestanding items of furniture designed for the house were recuperated and other pieces by Hoste were added.
