Nominate a Site to the 2014 World Monuments Watch

Launched in 1996, ask the World Monuments Watch calls international attention to cultural heritage around the globe that is at risk from the forces of nature and the impact of social, political, and economic change. The 2014 Watch continues this tradition of identifying places with compelling opportunities for positive change.

The Watch advocates for the preservation of heritage sites by raising international awareness, promoting local engagement, inspiring heritage stewardship, and advancing innovation and collaboration.

Heritage sites from all time periods—ancient to modern—are eligible for inclusion on the Watch. Since its inception, the Watch has included 686 sites in 132 countries and territories around the world.

Since 1998, 4 Belgian heritage sites were nominated:
– Sanatorium Joseph Lemaire, Tombeek in 2010 Watch,
– Previous Radio and Television Building (INR-NIR Radio building), Ixelles/Elsene in 1998 Watch,
– Tour & Taxis, Brussels in 1996-2000 Watch,
– Wortel Colony Estate, Hoogstraten 1998 Watch

Anyone can nominate a site to the Watch, including private individuals or representatives of government agencies, educational institutions, nonprofits, or other non-governmental organizations familiar with a site.
