The Centre for Social Studies and the Department of Architecture of Coimbra University (Portugal) will organize the INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM 74 14 SAAL # ARCHITECTURE on November 14-16, 2014, in partnership with the Serralves Foundation, Documentation Centre April 25th and Docomomo International.

The colloquium in Coimbra, on architecture and the project of participation, will explore, in general, the housing problem, in particular, the legacies of “SAAL” (i.e. the Ambulatory Service for Local Support), the mid-1970s aided self-help program created during the Carnation Revolution in Portugal.” Today, SAAL permits us to reflect, to question ourselves and to debate the issues and challenges of housing as well as its close relationship with architecture.
CALL FOR PAPERS
The Serralves Conference is the starting point for a discussion that will extend until November with the opening of the Coimbra Colloquium and the inauguration of the Exhibition. The articulation between the various stages is intended to complement the perspectives, methodologies and research instruments about SAAL.

74 – 14 SAAL – ARCHITECTURE # PORTUGUESE
74 – 14 SAAL – ARCHITECTURE# AUTONOMOUS
